Too much time spent copying, checking or searching for information? Put AI and automation to work on the tasks slowing your team down, with practical training and clear checks on the results.
Work directly with Stephen Mitchell. Liverpool based, supporting businesses remotely across the UK, with occasional on-site visits by arrangement.
You do not need a ready-made AI strategy. I can review work across finance, sales, purchasing and operations, identify useful opportunities and take a chosen process from an initial trial into everyday use.
Documents still mean manual data entry
Staff read invoices, forms or spreadsheets, then type or reformat the same information for another system.
HOW I CAN HELP
Use AI-assisted extraction and structured preparation to produce reviewable data, with checks before it reaches your business systems.
Answers are buried in files and emails
People spend time finding the right document, reading long records or asking colleagues for information they already hold.
HOW I CAN HELP
Build an appropriate way to search and summarise agreed information, with supporting sources and access limited to the people who need it.
AI experiments have not become useful routines
Some staff use AI informally, others avoid it, and nobody is clear which tools or outputs they can rely on.
HOW I CAN HELP
Choose a worthwhile first use, agree the data and review rules, test representative work and train the team before extending it.
WHAT WOULD CHANGE
Turn a useful idea into a working process.
01
Choose the work worth improving
Review repetitive tasks, existing tools and available data. Compare the likely benefit and implementation effort, then agree a first use case and how to assess it.
02
Build it into the way you work
Create document, data-preparation or information-search workflows and connect them with existing tools. Use conventional automation where it is the more dependable fit.
03
Help your people use it confidently
Test outputs against source information, make exceptions visible and retain human approval where needed. Provide practical training, working instructions and a staged rollout.
EXPERIENCE IN PRACTICE
Practical work behind the approach
My work includes using AI tools to prepare accounting import sheets and improve finance workflows. I am also developing a procurement and accounts payable platform with document processing and a conversational workspace using permission-controlled information. That platform is in development, supported by local testing and selected staging demonstrations.
Start with a focused use case and representative data. We agree the access boundaries, required checks and acceptance criteria, then test the workflow with the people who will use it. Wider rollout follows evidence that it works for the intended purpose.
Monthly support can include reviewing workflow results, addressing exceptions, refining prompts and connections, training staff and extending automation to further tasks. We agree which tools and processes are covered, with scope and fees set before work starts.
Can AI be integrated across the business?
Yes, the review can cover finance, sales, purchasing and operations. The scope is agreed around your requirements, data and available systems. Each workflow still needs appropriate testing and ownership; broad adoption works best through clear delivery stages.
PLANNING THE WORK
Questions before we start
Where should we start with AI in finance?+
Start with a repeated task or information problem that can be clearly defined and checked. We can assess the data involved, the expected benefit, the review controls and the effort needed, then test a focused workflow before expanding it.
How would you handle access to business information?+
We agree what data the workflow needs, which tools will process it and who should have access. The design should include appropriate permissions, testing against source information and human review for financial decisions or sensitive changes.
Will our team receive training?+
We include training and handover in the delivery plan. The aim is for users to understand how the workflow operates, how to check its output, when to intervene and how to handle exceptions.
THE FIRST CONVERSATION
Which repetitive task would you like to take off your team’s hands?
Describe what happens today, which tools are involved and what takes the most time. We can explore the options on a short phone or Teams call. You do not need to know which AI product to choose.
